Wilson Airport Flight Path Altered! Bomas Construction Impacts Aviation (2025)

Wilson Airport's flight paths will be disrupted as the Bomas International Conference Complex (BICC) construction nears completion. The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has informed airlines that the traditional landing approach will be affected from mid-November 2025. This is due to the planned installation of four cranes, each ranging from 75m to 85m above ground level, on the BICC site. The cranes will be operational from mid-November 2025 until April 30, 2026. The KCAA has convened a meeting on November 11, 2025, to discuss alternative flight routes and mitigate potential hazards. The development is a result of an aeronautical study conducted in 2023, aiming to ensure safe operations at Wilson Airport. The BICC project is part of a broader government initiative to enhance Bomas, positioning it as a premier conferencing destination in the region. President Ruto's administration has prioritized this development to attract Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism. The project aims to redefine Bomas's appearance, functionality, and purpose, as announced by President Ruto in March 2025. The government has refuted earlier claims that Bomas had been sold to a Turkish national, emphasizing its status as a government-owned facility.
